I've e-mailed Rick Pippinger to see if he would like to join the festivities. Yes Jack, Rusty did indeed pass away from a heart attack according to Rick. I will try and get more information and send it on along. I saw David Michaelson in LA a few years ago and I will try and track him down. Cutlip is a minister of some kind in Birmingham and when I talked to him he kind of blew me off.

Best,

Mark

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 03/21/2003 10:01:26 By Rick McLean
Leo, How goes it!! Michaelson was in the S.F. Bay area I thought. Waring is?/was married to Peggy Piper. Her dad had a medical practice in the Gables. Shouldn't be hard to track down. He worked for Gray something electric in the Gables.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 04/15/2003 10:48:23 By Jose Herrera

Hi guys the memory is not what it used to be but//wasn't Terry Pogue a sweetheart or sponsor in 65. I know she was Richard Bishop's flame but I don't remember this part. I just "buried" Jerry Carpenter a few days ago but he got in touch with Kavney and corrected that part. People will do anything to get to this reunion, even come back from the dead.I was glad to be wrong.
Jose

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 04/16/2003 09:54:09 By Jerry Carpenter
Jose, I understand the memory loss. We all suffer from CRS ! But, that was a dastardly deed burying me. What if I didn't have enough sense to know better when I read of my demise. Janey and I can't make the gathering. But, we would love to hear from all. :>)} Jerry

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 04/16/2003 12:21:01 By Jim Kavney
Jack, you can find Billy Adams and Chip Presbrey on the Stags Brothers list.
Jim

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 04/16/2003 03:42:59 By Jerry Carpenter
How about Tim Yero and Chip Turner from '65 ?
Anyone know their whereabouts? Jerry

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 04/30/2003 09:00:03 By JOE HERRERA
Boy what a bunch of DEAD GUYS..Nobody has anything interesting to say??? Well I heard today from Elby Lores (now Eschelman as in Bob) and it was real nice I hadn't heard from her almost since High School. They are coming to the reunion,Im looking forward to seeing them.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 05/11/2003 10:00:01 By Gonzalo G Ruiz Jr.
Guys, for the 65/66 class we need to contact Rick Krissel. I am sure that he has the las addresses for Michelson and Swain (For all of you who do not know, Rick was a chink, correction, he still is, and was chairman of the 65 reunion committee all these past years.

Doug Waring's last whereabout were near homestead. and in fact he was married to Peggy Piper....Terry Pogue was the stags sweethear in 65

I believe that my ex wife, Dale Koberlein , had contact with Chip Prebrey or doug johnson receently, I will follow up.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 05/11/2003 10:06:32 By Gonzalo G Ruiz Jr.
Janey Hasencamp was a Stags Sponsor in 1965

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 05/15/2003 10:07:54 By Jose Herrera
Hey Gonzo, I talked to Waring and Peggy a couple of weeks ago and also tracked Swain to Wisconsin and talked to his wife (Remember Carol Palmer) so they have been told. Nobody has answered me so I'll have to ask my personal historian "Wasn't Terry Pogue" sweetheart or sponsor???.
Also "talked " to Elby Lores and she is excited about coming to the reunion. You ade mention about "going thru a storm" lately???Nothing personal I hope, I asked Erin today and she said you had been traveling a lot. I'll call you tomorrow and you better answer goddamm it.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 05/15/2003 10:11:00 By Jose Herrera
You answered my question about Terry Pogue thanks. So then it was Sarah Lehman(talked to her the other day)sponsor,Janie (sponsor) and Terry (sweetheart)I guess.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 05/22/2003 04:14:43 By Janet Eaton
i was a sponsor of stags in 1968. i have remained friends with terry pogue's sister marie. i will contact marie to let Terry know about the reunion.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 05/22/2003 11:43:25 By Jose Herrera
Hi Janet see if you can get Terri's email, phone or whatever. Do you know if she divorced Richard Bishop I think they did. Looking forward to seeing you at the reunion.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 05/23/2003 01:12:54 By Rick McLean
Rick and Terri divorced many years ago. They have grown kids. Rick remarried a girl from England he met while in the Air Force. For the life of me I can't think of her name right now. Probably cause I've been in the ATC simulation lab for the past 5 days working with students.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 05/23/2003 06:12:27 By Billy Adams
Richard and Jenny Bishop.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 06/17/2003 07:08:19 By Jose Herrera
Sorry I clicked too soon. Guys lets get on the phone and call people also open the checkbook and lets get this thing of our (Cosa Nostra)going. Its not fair to guys like Jim Kavney etc to do all the work(which has been tremendous)and also be collectors. We are to old for that. Get Hot.
I have been procrastinating myself but finally sent it in today.

Does anybody out there remember the boxing matches at Don Devanes house???????? When all different clubs fought in the back yard . This is before my class . I was like in 8th or 9th grade then. My brother Gonzalo would take me to them.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 06/23/2003 10:28:36 By chuck helmly (69)
Hey Gus:

I remember going to back yard boxing matches, but I don't remember where they were.

Hey guys! I'm not lost, I've just been busy and lazy but I do and promise that I'll have my "arz" in the reunion and by the end of next week I will be putting some pictures in...It is obvious that Joe Herrera is suffering from great enthusiasm compounded with severe AMNESIA! Regards to all and look forward to seeing you all for a good old "haydee kaydee"...
Gonzalo

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 06/24/2003 05:29:59 By Gaston Ruiz 1968
Gonza , I 'am glad you to see you wrote in, we were all getting tired of hearing Herrera. We all thought Joe was the only guy besides Leopold that was in Stags back in those days.

Billy. Nancy Shafer and Janice Moore are both listed on classmates.com. I have sent both a message with the address for the Stags website. There is a Taylor Nesmith that was in Ching Tang class of 1970. I sent him an E-mail asking if Genie is his sister.

Gonzalo, those are great pictures you posted of the 64,65,66 brothers. I never knew you guys were so popular in your day, congratulations on those pictures they tell a good story? Did you know Fernando Rojas he is the one that encouraged me to attend gables and go out for football, and play the same position he did. I met him during the summer of 65 when he was dating Raul Gutierrez's sister, Ampy, and he would hang out with us on the Key....John

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/08/2003 11:12:23 By john scopetta 67-68
No, I never heard from him again. I always wanted to thank him for giving me the encouragement to go out for gables football, but I never did. Maybe if we ever get a hold of Paul Johnstone we can find out more about him. He would have been junior at Duke when Paul was a freshmen. Are you going on Friday? take care....Jackie

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/09/2003 05:51:37 By Gaston Ruiz 1968
Jerry, at the next Stags meeting will vote on having a couple of car washes and sell Krispy Kreme donuts and get the money together to buy you a ticket so that you and Janie can come.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/09/2003 11:06:02 By Gonzalo G.Ruiz, Jr
If Jerry agrees to come I will personnally go up to pick him in Mt City and then once we are heret rather than drive around drinking beer in the Gables like we use to do, this time we'll get a limo driver to take us around.

Dang it Jerry get your ARZ down here. No excuses..Like the old song" This couldbe the last time"..............

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/10/2003 07:36:22 By Mark Leopold
Really Jerry, it's not as if you have to come from South Africa. It won't be the same without you and Janey.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/10/2003 12:14:12 By Jerry Carpenter
Terrie,Gus,Gonz,Leo
I really appreciate the offers of assistance. The problem is a timing one. Janey starts school on the 11th and it takes us a little longer to recover from trips than it used to:>)Everybody would kill me if I came alone and didn't bring Janey, right!?! Gonz- if you had a private jet....
Leo- you havn't been to Mtn. City, right? It is not far from S. Africa actually :>) Til later...

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/12/2003 03:23:28 By Billy Adams(Bear)
Leo, Mtn,City is just over yonder, right Jerry

Missed both of you guys last night and that beautiful 4'11" smiling Terry Pough

By the way Jerry, I ended up drinking more than a beer for you , it was more like 12 and a shot of scotch. I represented you well You should have seen Gonzalo and Jose at breakfast this morning, they looked like we use to after playing King on The Hill and camping out ( passing out)all night at the rock pits. The next morning Genie and Terry would show up with a car load of donuts and coffee, they looked like angels from heaven...Thank you girls...We couldn't have made with out you...Oh yes, Gonzalo and Herrera conveniently forgot their wallets...They blamed it on the beer last night...Ask them about this Cuban thing with the eggs..and..Grits

Take care old friends

Sorry for the spelling error, Terrie.

Hope to see you soon.

Jerry,

Did I hear a dare on the "private jet"...Is that what it will take for you guys to come down?...Come on old buddy I am basically calling your bluff..Let me see your cards you bearded fart!!..Aha!!!...I am waiting........

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/12/2003 07:36:41 By Gonzalo Ruiz
Billie Bop,

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/13/2003 04:04:20 By David Perez
Hey you guys seem to be the most active group of Brothers so I'm asking for your help.

I spoke with Pete (ass neck) Peretta on the phone the other day and because he isn't plugged into the internet he dosen't know how involved everyone is with the reunion. He told me he wasn't sure if he could attend. BUT I think with a little bit of coaxing we could get him to put things aside and commit to at least one night of the reunion. His number in Homestead is 305 230 9594. Maybe if several Brothers call him we could get him there.

Thanks for your help.

Dave Perez

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/25/2003 10:06:36 By Gaston Ruiz 1968
Marie, who is going to kick start Gonzalo??????

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/25/2003 11:22:34 By Jerry Carpenter
Gaston, If Gonzalo would quit skipping the country he might have time for this ! The only acceptable reason to go to London would be to get insurance from Lloyd's on the private jet and our lives. If I had known that Terrie had a NEW THONG, I might have made reservations a long time ago !!! After seeing a recent picture, I know I would have ! Marie, I have been asking Terrie for a recent picture of the 3 Pogues. If you girls will oblige, I promise not to publish 'til after the reunion(neighborhood honor!).Jerry

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/25/2003 06:43:40 By Gaston Ruiz 1968
Marie , the bus still runs ,but the theaters are no longer open. By the way I do believe I have pictures from David Fairchild Elementary.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/25/2003 08:14:12 By marie
Gaston I thought the sandpipper belonged to Herb and I think he is to kind to show old pictures like that, but I would rather the old ones show up because you are going to see this old person soon enough

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/25/2003 08:55:07 By Gaston Ruiz 1968

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/26/2003 09:07:51 By Jerry Carpenter
Billy Adams where are you? Gonz went to London to see about insurance, Jose musta just went over yonder- or a piece further ! Come on Guys ! Pump it up ! You would think that the keg party was all you had left in you! Billy, maybe you should have let some of the other guys "have just one Bud for me" instead of shouldering the awesome duty all by yourself..........

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/26/2003 09:28:07 By Marie

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/28/2003 09:20:37 By Jerry Carpenter
Gaston, I don't need help with the ticket! I just have a very limited window of opportunity at that particular point in time. It would help if Gonz would respond occasionally to his email! London musta caught his eye. Connie, I want a picture of you, Marie, and Terrie (recent!!!)

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/28/2003 09:29:01 By Gaston Ruiz 1968

Gonzalo;
Hoy... Hoy estoy vivo. ¡¡¡ Como vos !!!

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/29/2003 11:42:55 By Gonzalo Ruiz
Marie,
I didn't call Terrie an old fart. That was aimed at Carpenter...The thong is another story. If its a rubber foot thong I dont care ; however, any other thong is of great interest, particularly from a sweetheart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/31/2003 08:43:02 By Janet Eaton
marie, i don't know what pictures you have with colleen and linda but i do know that era was a wild one. let me proof read before the show! jerry carpenter! we lived next door to each other! in fact, my father bought land from your mom (she owned the whole block!) to build our house!! we had great pine cone fights on that lot! connie, the little sister who followed us everywhere! hello. terri, do you really still wear thongs! go girl! my ass wouldn't fit in the largest size for the plus size girls!!!! we are not only going to have a stags reunion we are going to celebrate the hood!!!

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/31/2003 08:54:12 By Terrie
Janet, no thongs on this girl! that was Marie trying to get me into one which she knew just wouldn't be a possibity but she tried. I remember the woods - we all had so many years of poison-ivy - so many great times in that entire neighborhood, the memories just keep popping in as all this goes on.
Terrie

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 08/01/2003 09:54:10 By marie
do you guys remember donalds tree house he, jack, floyd and others called us over and killed us with pine cones I still remember the pain and donald shot me in the head with an arrow

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 08/01/2003 10:02:48 By Jerry Carpenter
Remember Donald's tree house !? I almost died in that thing. Ask Donald when you see him, since he won't participate here ! It was the day before the DeVanes were going on vacation. Could have cancelled the whole trip. Gasoline fires are bad business.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 08/01/2003 04:38:47 By marie
I remember that fire now boy he was a trouble maker so you were killing us with pine cones some pain you don't forget

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 08/01/2003 05:01:58 By Janet Eaton
marie, i remember the arrow in the head. i was with you (as usual) and i near passed out with fright when that thing was handing from your head. i thought you were dead and i was scared to death to go tell your mom that you were dead!

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 08/01/2003 05:41:54 By marie
Janet yes you were with me for my head and hand and I was with you when you did a split on skates that was real pain

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 08/02/2003 05:12:33 By Janet Eaton
marie, my kids know the story of your hand! to this day i am so sorry for that mistake. i feel responsible for that scar...i guarantee you though that my girls won't put their friend on the hood of the car and take off! the split on the skates. of yes, i do remember that.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 08/02/2003 07:08:05 By marie
Janet the scar was my fault and it gives me something to talk about and something to remember old sady by, you and I named that car and we had some good times with her

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 08/02/2003 09:55:43 By jOSE hERRERA
Hi everyone sorry to have been silent for a while.Just got back from a body building competition in Texas. When I read the brochure I thought it said "body REbuilding".It was a little upsetting. Terry don't worry about the thong thing remember I was madly in love with you and then Roger ????? swept you away, then I met Louise, then came Bish and so on like two ships in the night.Interpreting some of the messages Spanish or otherwise there are some who may believe we are living in the past,we are at an age where there is probably a lot more past than future, but like Gonzo I believe that our past had a lot to do with our present and influenced our future. I for one wouldn't trade a day nor any of the friendships that were made.
Beginning to get excited about next week end.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 08/03/2003 12:38:46 By Terrie
Jose, You're back! I wondered why we hadn't heard from you - a "body building contest" - I can't wait to see you! You're right, our past and all the great friendships are a part of us. About Roger, he was my first introduction to Stags Club when I was in the 9th grade - I was hoping he would join us! Terrie

"HOE-ZY", Why won't someone who is bilingual translate that message for the uni-lingual ignorants among us. Or am I homo-lingual ? Meaning do I screw my one and only language? And therefore, do the bi-lingualists screw both of their languages. Probably, most of us most of the time (spell check or not)! IN THE BOND, Jerry

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 08/03/2003 10:17:32 By jOSE hERRERA
Hi Terry looking forward to seeing you too,my thong is at the cleaners but I still have some cut off jeans around.
gaston for your information ever since I started taking those blue pills Perez gave me I don't worry about my hair much or ANYTHING else. Thanks David you are a true friend. So on a more serious note what is the schedule for this reunion? We show up someplace on Friday night(there was some mention someplace about a place other than Biltmore) at ---PM and then on Saturday we meet at------during the day for some fun and sun, then Saturday night at ------pm we meet at the Biltmore for dinner until ------pm.
DOES THAT ABOUT COVER IT. If anybody has more factual information please let me know.SOON.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 08/04/2003 00:16:24 By Gonzalo Ruiz
At the request of J Carpenter and for that reason only, I am translating literally the very warm, distant, somewhat confusing but what appears to be a very honest and full of love, anonymous message to me in spanish...Needless to say, it is hard not to agree with many parts of iits content, as it is easier to disagree with many other of its parts....I really hope my friend, our brother, will come to share the today that Friday and Saturday will be ON THAT DAY...PLEASE DON'T DISSAPPOINT US...OK!!!!!!

"Gonzalo,

There isn't a more beautiful day than today. The sum of many yesterdays form my past. My past is composed of happy and sad memories...

Some are
photographes and now cardboards (postcards) where I see myself small, where my parents continue to be newlyweds, where my city looks like a different one. But I can not advane looking constantly in the past, I run the risk of not seeing the faces of those who march at my side.

Could be that tomorrow
the sunrise will be more beautiful. But I can not advance looking only at the horizon.
I run the risk of not seeing the scenery which develops around me. Tha is why I prefer today. I like to step on it with strength, enjoy its sun or be shaken by its coldness, feel how every moment says: Present!!...I know it is very brief, that it will pass very quickly, that I can not alter it later or get a clean slate.
neither can I plan tomorrow very much: It is a place that does not exist yet. Yesterday I was. Tomorrow I will be. Today I am. That is why I can say: Today, I tell you that I love you. Today I listen to you. Today I ask for your forgiveness for my errors. Today I help you. Today I share what I have. Today I separate myself from you without keeping any words for tomorrow. Because today I breath, see, think, listen, suffer, smell, cry, work, touch, laugh, lovrr...Today... Today I am alive. Like you!!!!"

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 08/04/2003 11:13:53 By Gonzalo Ruiz
Janet, what can I say....Someone who is shy and intellectual has written to me....No, I don't me, but to all of us. I think I know who it is but it will remain secret. I just hope this brother shows up...Ths is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see those who were there at the start of the journey. I am glad I will be there!!!...and you and all those friends who wish to share ....

Ivan. Oh Ivan, soo, you are proud of my broken english/spanish translation...Glad it wasn't swaheeli... That being the case, Carpenter would have been out of luck!!!

Charlie and Herb,

Great job of finding Steve Snow. Thanks for your efforts in finding him. Sure hope he comes to the reunion. If you think it would help I could give him a ring and prod him along.

Lamb and I have both called Pete Peretta and he seems receptive but since he isn't connected to the internet I don't think he realizes the scope of the reunion.

See you all in a couple of days.

Well folks the deed is done the event came and went. I can't express my awe at the number of people that came from all over to share a few hours with each other. Friendships were mended, some strengthened and many established in a very short period of time. Amazing to give the grip to some guys that were in their 70s. I think a good time was had by all this weekend and unfortunately time was over before we knew it but I sincerely believe that many more like events will spring forth from this one. In the meantime we can concentrate on finding other Stags. My hat is off to Jim Kavney and all others who were instrumental in making this reunion a tremendous sucess. My only regret is that some brothers were missing, but we'll get them for the next one. Thanks to all of you for just being there.

Trescott told me that the reason some guys didn't come to the reunion was that after the reunion they would be depressed because now it's all over.
I kind a thought knowing Trecott he was full of you know what. But actually today I was somewhat depressed. I miss all you guys and hope we can get together again in the future. Remember if you are ever in the Sarastoa area you have an open invitation call me.

Hey Mango I can see being depressed if you had lost something but I think you will agree we all gained a tremendously by just being together. What you are feeling is just the sudden vacumm of having so many friends around and then having to let go,but hey buddy we are still here and for some reason I have a feeling it's here to stay.It was great sharing a few moments with you.

marie, iloved seeing you at the reunion. I didn't get to spend enough time with you. With all my buddies from Stags there just wasn't enough time. Next time I go to our house on the Peace River I will call. I want to come see you in Ft. Myers. I think we will be up there sometime in November. The house just flooded and we're rehabing it now.

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 08/16/2003 11:23:40 By Gaston Ruiz 1968

Maybe we need a new thread for 63-65 or 62-67 or maybe I just need to "hush".Anyways- I really hope all you guys and gals are OK through Frances and the next storm (whenever).00-000 Jerry

We have dodged IVAN so far and it looks like the panhandle may take a direct hit - so much for the Noles, a loosing football team, and no campus!

I spent over 16 hours after working all day last week putting up a new set of shutters right before Frances... I left them on this weekend in anticipation of Ivan - I'm leaving them up until next weekend so I can recover from all the aches and pains from putting them up. No doubt I'll have a brand new set of aches and pains next weekend as well;

All the effort and work was well worth it and much better than the thought of Ivan having hit us. Hurricanes suck but the Canes rule...

These dang hurricanes cost me a fortune, but much less than if they had have carried out the threat they were. Thank God for sparing us once again.

There is a recently posted photo on "Pictures of Yesteryear Page Two" dated May 1961 concerning the Lopez brothers making a significant contribution to a Ponce track victory. A "Coach Marshall" is mentioned in the Ponce newspaper headline. When I was at Ponce about ten years earlier there was a Coach Marshall at Ponce. He could sit in a chair at the foul line and, using an underhand shot, make dozens of consecutive shots without missing. I remember an incident involving Coach Marshall. One of the students that was several years older and much bigger than other 7th and 8th graders was forcing himself on one of the girl students. Coach Marchall caught him in the act and proceeded to give him a significant beating. In todays world, Marshall probably would have a serious legal problem but at that time and place even though there was not wide spread knowledge of the incident, Coach Marshall was viewed as a campus hero. Is that Coach Marshall from 1951-1952 the same Track Coach Marshall in May 1961?

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/06/2005 07:57:30 By Ivan Lopez
Hey Don, Yes he is one in the same. Coach Marshall was AKA Itchy B_ _ _ _ _ Marshall
There was another coach named Coach Wolson who just as Coach Marshall was a great influence in our lives. I remember Coach Marshall sending us to get him food across the street at Burger King
during school hours and if DEAN DAY would catch us he would tell him we were cross country runners coming back to the school. I always thought that Mr.DAY didn't buy those stories since we were sprinters. OH Coach Marshall,Wolson and Mr.Day Ms. Donna Boutilier (french Teacher) I miss you all alot if you are upstairs you all must be laughing your buts off. God bless those golden years.... Take care Ivan

Re: CLASS OF 1965/66Posted at 07/06/2005 10:37:00 By Terrence W. Grant
I believe his name was Emery Marshall and a promoter of TG...John D everybody was bigger than you at Ponce......getting away with things...in Ponce my class had the fire and when we came back into the portables some of the kids were out of hand...a history teacher reported some guy to principle...the next day he came in with a bag of birdseed and several birds under his jacket. He threw the birdseed on the teacher and then let these birds loose in the portable...just another day in junior high...Coach Marshall also worked at the West Flagler Kennel Club...i think every coach in miami had a part time job there...i parked cars there when i was in session at the U of M
