GO...NOLES...

I don't know who's going to win tonight, but I'll be watching and rooting for the Hurricanes. It should be a good game as usual. I think it's a little early to pick a winner without see either team play this year.

GO Canes

Re: N.C.A.A. FOOTBALL 2006-2007Posted at 09/05/2006 12:30:10 By Jim Kavney
The best I can say about the Canes, is they beat the Noles in rushing yardage by twice as much. 2 yards to 1 yard, neither team looks like a National Title winner to me.

Re: N.C.A.A. FOOTBALL 2006-2007Posted at 09/05/2006 03:07:44 By DAVID
ALL I CAN SAY IS EITHER FSU AND MIAMI HAVE THE BEST DEFENSE IN THE COUNTRY OR BOTH OFFENSES ARE REAL BAD. TOO EARLY TO FOR ME LETS SEE DOWN THE LINE WHAT THEIR DEFENSE DOES AGAINST OTHER TEAMS.

Re: N.C.A.A. FOOTBALL 2006-2007Posted at 09/06/2006 00:10:48 By John Dannelly 1957
David, our middle son, is a graduate of FSU. I am a graduate of UM. Which team wins this game is rarely a disapointment to me because I am a strong supporter of both teams. How they play matters more to me than who wins.

Both FSU and UM need to realize the big bucks they receive to play in this Labor Day special are not worth it. They should refuse to schedule the UM-FSU game as the first game of the season. Typically, no team is going to play to their potential this early in the season. A UM-FSU game is deserving of both teams having the opportunity to develop before facing such an important game.

FSU and UF do it right. If those institutions attempted to schedule their annual game as game 1 the legislature would reduce their funding and/or create a "last game of the season" requirement.

Re: N.C.A.A. FOOTBALL 2006-2007Posted at 09/06/2006 06:59:48 By David steger
John, I believe the schedule was set up this way because of UM, VT, joing the conference. It goes back to Oct. 2007 when they will play like the old days.

I agree with you it is to early to tell.

Re: N.C.A.A. FOOTBALL 2006-2007Posted at 09/06/2006 02:46:09 By John Dannelly 1957
It is my understanding that a number of factors required changes in the schedule but the most significant factor was the universities were not able to resist the big TV bucks included in the deal.

Re: N.C.A.A. FOOTBALL 2006-2007Posted at 12/05/2006 09:46:18 By Tim Yero
Although I dislike the Gators about as much as any Canes fan, I would like to see the Gators win on a bad call against THE Ohio State (on a 2 point conversion try to end the game)... payback for the UM Orange Bowl "Pass Interference BS" that happened a few years back would be a nice way to end the game with the Gators winning by 2.

With the Canes, Noles, Dolphins, Bucks and Jaguars having bad years, (and the Panthers and maybe the Heat also) it would be nice for a Florida team to come out on top in something!

Re: N.C.A.A. FOOTBALL 2006-2007Posted at 12/05/2006 04:13:07 By
Hey Tim, do you like anybody???

Re: N.C.A.A. FOOTBALL 2006-2007Posted at 12/06/2006 03:02:20 By Tim Yero
I went to Pepperdine, so not really!
(No football team!)

Pepperdine did win the national championship (Against U of M) in baseball a few years back, usually had a pretty good B Ball team and were the National Champs in Tennis last year (Also, volleyball top team every year)!

My sister dated Fran Curci of the Hurricanes for awhile before she died, when I was a kid - so I always back the Canes in football - from Andy Gustafason on... My sister went to Gables 4 years earlier than I.

I am also a forever first game attendee avid Dolphins fan and Marlins fan.

But, in answer to your real question, I like everyone, especially animals, like dogs. If I come across that I don't like anyone, you don't know me very well. I am opinionated when writing (my expertise) but very quite otherwise.

Having been through too many traumas in my life, including Nam as a grunt, my wife dieing suddenly when I was 28 and she was 27 (She went to Gables 66 etc, etc), I now just try and go with the flow or against it and throw some teasers in for fun. If you don't like that kind of humor, I apologize but that's just harmless and nutty me trying to get an interesting conversation going.

I'd say, I am defient for all good causes.

Go GATORS!

A must see movie for football fans is INVINCIBLE.
Not the best movie but a super story. A true story.

Gaston:
Now that I think of it you could be right! I think Pepperdine could possibly have a 'cooking degree'... I mean what else could there be? for a school on Malibu Beach that has Beach Volleyball as a PE elective? With Pebble Beach and Cypress Point Golf right down the road! (Not to mention Clint Eastwood - the Mayor!)..

PS I got my BA at Pepperdine but also went to UM for the MBA when I worked for Ma Bell... The best of both worlds I guess!

PSS No, the Pepperdine BA was not in cooking or Volleyball! Pepperdine has a top rated Human Resources Management School - that's what I got.

PSSS Really though, Pepperdine does have a great athletic program with the exception of football. There's no room for a "stadium". If they did play football it would have to be beach football! I wonder how Ohio State or the Gators (Or your Tigers) would fair in the sand?
Perhaps someday they will popularize beach football; I'm sure Pepperdine would be right up there in the standings if they ever did!

Re: N.C.A.A. FOOTBALL 2006-2007Posted at 12/12/2006 06:43:12 By Gaston Ruiz (1968)
Tim, ment no disrespect about Pepperdine.. ...My Lawyer and good friend that has saved my ass many times, graduated from Pepperdine.....LSU TIGERS would not do well on beach sports at all...But we would Challenge anybody in a all night out in the " BAYOU" bringing in Crawfish or Crawdads for a next day all you can eat sit down.....using Louisiana HOT sauce or any other locally made HOT sauses.....

I should have gone to LSU, I love that food(except easy on the hot sauce for me) but unfortunately did not speak the language. Your multi-lingual talents are beyond mine. I am multi-lingual but can only speak some Spanglish, some English, 5 Vietnamese words and a little getto.

The food is much better there than the tofu, organic salad and natural Geritol vitamins common at Pepperdine (yuk)...

PS after this year... I also wish LSU had it's old football coach back - soon would be good.

Re: N.C.A.A. FOOTBALL 2006-2007Posted at 12/13/2006 08:39:43 By Tim Yero
I just though of something else...
I was going to originally brag on Pepperdine having a top School of Law (so does U of M.), but it had nothing to do with my subject area of study.
Your Pepperdine lawyer should be a good one.

I know LSU is big on farming - this evidently did you quite well! I never bought any land like I should have when I was rich so I have no place to grow stuff. The crop I'd grow is also questionable.

I should have been a Lawyer but my disposition and motivation is too extreme so no one would want to pay me (and I probably would not win many cases!) Good decision.

When push comes to shove though, I preferred the sweaty, tanned, active and whacky bikini beach girls to that available on the farm in LSU territory. I learned that blondes actually do have more fun at when I was at Pepperdine.

Dear Bob: Did you see my Gators play last night against Ohio? I think we shocked everyone, including ourselves, as we were considered the underdogs. Gainesville went crazy last night and still going strong this morning. I sure didn't want to come to work, but everyone here is so excited that it is worth being here. Almost everbody is decked out in Orange and Blue. That means the Gators are No 1, in basketball and football this year. Hope all is going well for you and hope your holidays were happy ones. love, sa GO GATORS

Gaston, lets see how LSU plays tonight. The way the Sooners played today with that 6-5 freshman QB, don't count them out.

We are watching UF play now and they look great but who have they played so far, next week is the test.

UM looks real bad, I would not want to be on the plane coming back to Miami. Randy is chewing them out as we talk and will make them practice real hard all next week.

Here's mine:
1. USC
2. LSU
3. West Virginia
4. Oklahoma
5. Wisconsin
6. Louisville
7. Cal
8. Texas
9. Florida
10. Ohio State

Except for LSU and West Virginia not a very exciting season ... pretty yuk. Texas and Oklahoma could switch places depending on the outcome of their game against each other.

USC takes # 1 because their band is awesome (They played with Fleetwood Mac so they gotta be cool) and their cheerleaders are better looking and don't sweat as much as LSU's (too much yucca and flan) ...

Sorry Canes... looks like a couple of years to get back to the big time - hopefully ... And my sleeper for this year and next to move eventually into the top 10 > USF Bulls, a good new well balanced team that will make some noise.

Thank God Notre Dame sucks... we can live without them for a long time.

Will check back when the seasons over to see if I should have bet the ranch.

One For GASTON (and the LSU Tigers):

Three SEC football fans were out for a ride when one noticed a foot sticking out of the bushes by the side of the road. They stopped and discovered a nude female, passed out drunk.

Out of respect, the LSU fan took off his cap and placed it over her right breast. The Florida fan took off his cap and placed it over her left breast. Following their lead, but with some grumbling, the BAMA fan took off his cap and placed it over her girly part.

The police were called and when the first officer arrived, he conducted his investigation. First he lifted up the LSU cap, replaced it and wrote down some notes. Next, he lifted the Florida cap and replaced it, writing down some more notes.

The officer then lifted the BAMA cap, replaced it, then lifted it again, replaced it, lifted it a third time and replaced it one last time.

The BAMA fan was becoming annoyed and asked, "What are you, a pervert or something? Why do you keep lifting and looking, lifting and looking?"

"Well," said the officer, "I am just simply surprised. Normally, when you look under a BAMA cap... you find an asshole."

GO LSU ....!!! Tim TDT65

Big games for changes in the ratings this week:
Watch for an upset - West Virginia VS USF ...
USF upset WV last year and is prime to do it again. Both teams are 'fast' (USF one of the few teams fast enough on defense to stop the WV speed on offense) ... USF has moved up to #18 this last week and should move up more; after the WV game 'win' this weekend.

Also Texas and Oklahoma... will shake the ratings up a bit this week. (LSU and USC still 1 and 2... Florida is just lurking there waiting for one of these two to mess-up!)

You are right again - as always! (Money makes the world go round and that's why I'm layin' low!)...

I think all the top teams may loose a game this year (no undefeated teams by the end of the schedule) which makes for really good arguments later on.

My University (Pepperdine) has no football team so I don't really care who wins until baseball, volley ball, basketball tennis and golf season rolls around (of course, I would care if I had a wager on it)...

I am cheering for the USF Bulls team (being that they are close to where I live now and are a really good new team with a lot of spirit and potential to make some noise)... I'd usually cheer for the Canes being from the Gables etc.. but they aren't much to cheer about lately.

I had to learn to cook before Pepperdine or I would have starved (almost did anyway!)... Malibu had limited eateries except for the rich and famous (I'm neither evidently)..and I don't like the healthy food (tofu etc)... hard to get a good chili dog in those parts and 2 for $2 is not in sight.!

We do usually have a highly ranked baseball and basketball team - the volley ball team is always up there at #1 or #2 and the Tennis team won the National Championship last year.

I obviously don't know anything at all about golf, so don't even ask!

Hi all from sunny California. My LSU cap has not brought me any warm welcomes over here and worst of all USC lost last night.

When I was watching the game last night I remembered some words of wisdom that my Grandpa use to say to me:

To achieve greatness you must have:

1. CHARACTER
2. COMMITMENT
3. DEDICATION
4. PERSEVERANCE

and most of all believe in yourself to overcome all obstacles. God bless old wisdom of our elders.

back to the game WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW
what a great game. I sometimes think why we can't have two winners! FLORIDA you have my respect you played a geat game.

Now we move on to our next challanges we learn from our mistakes. My LSU believed and they persevered. Cheers Cheers Cheers to LSU

Brothers and sisters CHEERS to you too.

So much for your national championship aspirations. Florida would have beat you too, if they had not quit running Tebo at you and for some stupid reason decided to try and turn him into a drop back pocket passer in the second half. I can just forsee the rest of the year being murder now - someone really needs to step up and beat Ohia so we can get back to the reality - everyone has to loose one so we can start over -the sooner the better (uh, oh.. did really I say ... 'sooner'?) sorry... !!!

I know the agony of defeat is still with you, but just for your information, we do not eat KY Fried Chicken in Kentucky. It has been replaced on the menu with Tiger this week, and hopefully Gator next week. No personal slight intended to any of my brothers, just the excitement of beating a # 1 team, the first time it has happened in this area since 1960.

Kentucky played well and I know it was a big deal... to beat LSU with their outstanding quarterback... I just hope the Dolphins don't pick him up like they did the first year (1966) when their very first draft choice was an 'outstanding Kentucky Quarterback' - Rick Norton.

Not many would probably remember that unless it was brought up - he flunked out for sure.

Here's hoping LSU gets back close to the top like they should be...

Re: N.C.A.A. FOOTBALL 2006-2007Posted at 10/17/2007 08:51:50 By Steve Aguilar
Dear Tim,
You are right, Norton was a flop for the Dolphins. but he did not have much help either in those days. Babe Parilli did better elsewhere, and more recently Tim Couch, Jared Lorenzen, and Shane Boyd were all good enough to play on Sunday, if not All pro material. Truth of the matter is it's real hard to be a Kentucky football fan. You've got to be a true masochist We have suffered long and often, and have found the craziest ways to lose games in the last seconds, that we should have won even when seriously overmatched.

The LSU loss several years ago on play with less than twelve seconds on the clock (a pass from their own 25 yard line, eventually covering 75 yards , tipped two or three times by both teams) which ended up in a LSU player's hands, who trotted into the end zone as the fans were tearing down the goal posts and players dousing the coach with Gatorade thinking we had won might be the worst.

A close second was losing to the Gators when they were in the top two or three on a Danny Wuerfel to Chris DoeringTD pass with seven seconds left and almost forty yards to score. I could go on and on, my point is this program, perenially the doormats of the SEC, are always outgunned and outmanned, played a very gutsy and physical triple overtime game against the #1 team in the country and for once came out on top. It was no fluke play that won the game, on that day in Commonwealth stadium in front of 76,000 incredulous fans, we were the better team on the field, and stopped them on fourth and two in the shadow of the goalposts.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the one brother who contacted me to offer his congratulations, a very classy individual, who realized what it meant to our program and to me.

At the same time, I'd like to offer my sincerest apologies to any LSU bro's who were offended by the delirium coming out of the Bluegrass. Nothing personal, and no disrespect intended to any of you. I love you all, and look forward to seeing you at The Doozie II , Return of the Whiners. Bring your A game, or suffer the same fate as your Tigers

Mucho Amore!

Steve:
It's good to be passionate about a team, and better when they are winning. The Dolphins have been breaking my heart and totally pissing me off for years, so I know what it feels like to cheer for a loosing team....

Building a winnner just should not take that long and I hope both Kentucky (and the stinkin Dolphins) will do well in the near future.

I also think Kentucky is better off sticking with basketball as their # 1 sport - two of my bosses at work are from Kentucky and literally go crazy during the basketball season. Being from Florida, I just have never gotten into basketball that much but do enjoy the championship games - I could care less about the teams involved unless I am betting on it!

Pepperdine did finish pretty high in the 90's and I was really a fan then - they beat Illinois to make the final four but bombed out after that.

(The horse racing in Kentucky ain't a bad thing either!)

Dear Bro's,

Is this not the craziest football year ever. MiZZou and West Va. Are you kidding me. Of course Oklahoma still has something to say about it. To my LSU Tiger brothers I offer my condolences on the close Arkansas loss. I can relate, because thanks to a blocked chip shot field goal, our Kentucky wildcats lost to Tennessee in triple overtime. We had the game won, needing only a score of any kind after stopping TENN with an interception in double overtime. Consequently, you will face Tenn. in the SEC championship game. We will be rooting for the Tigers as Tenn is our most hated foe, with a twenty four year winning streak against us. It should have ended last night, but our kicker screwed the pooch.

Wild and crazy year for football fans. Upsets have become the norm for highly ranked teams. If you like a running team with a scrambling QB check ou West Va's White and Slayton. They are greased lightning. Mizzou's QB Chase Daniel is a very special player too, and deadly a accurate passer. I kind of like to see some new faces in the big game .I hope you do too.

Aggie

Go Cats!!! It's where I live, and because we are playing each other in the bowl game, I've temporarily retired my FSU hat and have replaced it with a snappy deep blue UK number. I think it will be a good game but do not be surprised if the Noles go down. Just ask the LSU gang, Arkansas, and the Vols who feel truly blessed to leave town with a triple overtime win when the Cats missed a chip shot field goal that would have won in double overtime. I bleed blue baby!!!!!!! Billy, what thread did you want me to respond to,. I can not find it.Mucho amore!

Dear Brothers.

Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Cheer in the LSU Tigers even though they backed into the big game, because they are SEC, and most importantly are not a bunch of overrated Yankees like the Buckeyes. Those of you who golf, and those who don't start thinking of springtime in Port St Lucie when the football is over. Until then, my fondest regards to you and your loved ones. Merry Christmas, and Go Cats on New Years eve.

No Jerry,

You have it backwards. Dickie V hates Kentucky, and takes every opportunity to let the whole country know it. So piss on Dickie V. He is the last person I'd try to sound like. Up here in the Bluegrass all bleed blue. Since I have lived here since 1989, a total of 18 years, it is CATS CATS CATS. Besides in KENTUCKY, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, we actually require our athletes to go to class, and get an education. Up here, we don't have to suspend half the team on the eve of a bowl game like the cheatin NOLES. THE PROGRAM IS OUT OF CONTROL. IN MY OPINION ITS TIME FOR BOBBY TO HANG EM UP, and let someone else younger, and more in touch take the reins. Every year there is a new scandal and some star is getting let off the hook while blatantly thieving, stealing, cheating or worse. They are startIng to remind me more and more of Gangsta U, further downstate. In spite of all that, were the Noles playing anybody but The Cats, I'd be rooting for them.

Happy New Year
GO Cats

Re: N.C.A.A. FOOTBALL 2006-2007Posted at 12/31/2007 11:52:58 By steveaguilar
Dear Jerry,
Just to put things in proper perspective, even with thirty two cheatin Noles at home in Tally, Florida State had 18 four or five star scholarship players on the field, including virtually the entire offense. Guess how many Kentucky has on the whole team? Two, Woodson, the QB and one defensive player Woodyard. For your info, If we had not shot ourselves in the foot by repeatedly fumbling on the goal line and throwing stupid interceptions, we would have beat them by three, maybe four touchdowns.
The media has played it up on how the poor Noles were playing their fourth string. Bullcrap. They were without two or three defensive starters, However, most of their cheaters were bench warmers, pine riding punks, and the water bucket brigade. And oh by the way, The Cats were without our all SEC conference right guard (a country boy from Rockcastle County, Kentucky) who unfortunately got suspended from our team on the eve of the bowl game for a reason far more honorable than the CHEATIN NOLES, He lost his opportunity to play in the biggest game of his life for GETTING DRUNK and chasing skirt in the big city of Nashville, THE LIKES OF WHICH HE HAD NEVER SEEN , We were also without one of our top receivers, and our quickest running back, But nobody wrote shit about that because it doesn't sell newspapers.

So tell me bro, are we supposed to feel bad that FSU has a bunch of idiots on the team who felt the need to cheat on the toughy of all toughies, an open book exam in beginning music, certainly not to be confused with quantum physics
.
Sorry pal, we are the perennial doormats of the SEC, and there are guys on FSU's third string and fourth string that could start here most years. But this Kentucky team has a ton of heart. If you do not believe me just an LSU Tiger, #1 in the country till a road trip to Lexington (triple overtime win for the Cats), or an Arkansas Razorback, the only other team to beat LSU. WE beat them in Fayetteville, on the road. Go Cats!!!!! We won our second straight bowl albeit a minor one, and a W is far sweeter than a L in the years final tally. Still love you, Come to Kentucky and visit please. THe sooner the better. I'll introduce you to the enticements and varied pleasures of the Bluegrass.

Dton,
Dear Gaston,

You are probably right,
but the Tigers left Lexingto Kentucky with their tail between their legs, as you will leave the Port St. Lucie after Doozie II, Return of the WHINERS. Bring it on Bro. I can't wait. My partner Billy tells me he is hitting the ball better than he has in many years, and I assure you that the Kentucky MOJO that your bad hair Tigres encountered in Lexington, is but a slight foretaste and an early sampling of the 60 gallon drum of whupass that is about to descend on you and your whiny brothers of the Class of 67. Did anyone get a one day pass for you know who. We don't want him crying about going back to Miami after the front nine.

Did you know that your two loss Tigers also had a bad hair day against Arkansas. Fot the record, Kentucky beat them too, on the road, in Fayetteville. So put that in your pipe and smoke it. Nevertheless, we will be rooting for your Tigers on Monday night. But if LSU chokes against the Buckeyes who could not even beat Illinois, I never want to hear another word about the Tigers. You backed into the big game, and Georgia probably deserved it more, the way they were playing at the end of the season. Know that we want you to win the big one real bad. I hope your Tigers are able to uphold the honor of the SEC, where every weeks game is brutal, and anyone can beat you regardless of their record. I want a repeat of the Florida Gators dismantling of them last year.

Are your guys up to the task. Will you bring your A game to the Doozie? Only time will tell my compadre. Love you much. Please Email me or call me with Jackie's address, and Manny's too. I want to send them a FAMILY PHOTO. Did you get my pictures.

Dear Former Kicker,

LSU will kick the daylights out of the Ohio State Buckeyes who really did not play anybody to amass their glitzy record. I look to see a real ass whupin SEC style. When you lose to the Illini you don't belong in the big one.

Dear Buckbear,

What's in your wallet, and what's more important, what's in your bowl?????? Ramble on, sing my song. By the way you really know how to clear a thread. Is this a product of some dubious and cunning strategy, or what? Whatever, it's a clearly effective talent. Since you are retired, why not quit babbling, And instead, do some TRUCKIN. Here is a well known fact to ponder old punter tonight while watching the championship game: Since the BCS started in 1998, Ohio State's is 0-3 mark against the SEC. in the post season. So tonight old punter your team will continue their losing tradition at 0-4.
