Ivan, we love you back you are one unique individual and I mean that in a very good way. When God created Stags way back when, he wanted variety so the brothers would not get bored for every Ivan Lopez he added a Billie Adams for every Herb Stebbins he added a Gaston Ruiz and for every Terry Grant he added..... Shit!!! he decided to through away the mold after Terry he had created the pinnacle Stag.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 07:11:35 By Herb Stebbins(68)
Ivan, what a nice idea.
Two names ring a bell. Marsha Kay Kirkland and Billy Fisher. I can still remember some of the heart to heart talks I had with Marsha. She adored you. What a dichotomy, she faced....you on one end and her Dad (The Preacher) on the other. Just kidding!
In conversations with some of his friends, I was told that Billy Fisher was teaching school for the USAF in Germany. I'm trying myself to locate him and have been told that he now lives in Tallahasee Florida. I'll be in Tallahasee next month and will try to contact him. I'll report back on that.
Those of you that grew up in the David Farchild area know Pat Sullivan. Pat was in Tekes and graduated in 1967. On numerous occasions Pat has offered his assistance in locating people. Pat is a private investigator in the Orlando area. He helped me out with Billy Fisher. Pat's business phone number is 1-800-722-8261. His email is sullivaninv@earthlink.net
He wouldn't offer if he didn't want to help.
Thanks for the new thread Ivan.

John, we have been blessed. We are all different in so many ways yet we are so much alike. Your Spot On with Terry Grant. What I can't figure out is why the Good Lord broke the "Terry Grant Mold". Was it out of Anger.......Love.......Fear.......or was it to protect all of the young women in Central and South America?
I need to have one of your Cohiba's and a shot of Cuban Coffee before I pass judgement on that.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 08:16:31 By John Scopetta 68
I would say God did it out of true fear, he knew it would be difficult to match Terry and felt safer without to many of him around. Take a look at the picture in Hooters with the superman shorts and you will understand what I am saying.
Herb the Cohibas are getting hard to come by with the new state department laws on travel to Cuba. I have not been able to find any at a reasonable price and with surety that the are not Dominicans. What I am told is that if the ring label slides they were rolled in some other place probably with smuggled Cuban tobacco. I really don't know I mostly buy them to give away for about $150.00 per box.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 09:33:22 By Bob Injay
Ivan,
I saw Bill Fisher last year at Tom Bailey's fureral in Jacksonville. He is retired and living in Tallahassee. Herb, your right he did spend some time in Germany teaching. I didn't have much conversation with Bill since Tom's death was such a shock for everyone, especially Bill who you will remember was Tom's closest running buddy at Gables.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 01:17:07 By Herb Stebbins(68)
Ivan, the barber Tony you talk about, was that Tony Patronno? He used to cut hair in the Red/Bird Shopping Center for a long time. Is this the same guy?

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 01:44:01 By Jerry Carpenter
Tony at Red and Bird cut my hair from early childhood through high school. I always got bubble gum. Later on I was suspicious of what went on in the back. Never did find out for sure.As my hair got longer in college, Tony said "we" were trying to put him out of business. He still cut my hair and still wouldn't tell me what was going on in the back :>)

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 02:05:02 By david
TONY PETRISIO WAS A BARBER BUT ALSO DID SOME SECOND TYPE JOBS IN THE BACK. I CANT REALLY GET INTO IT ONLINE.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 02:17:47 By Herb Stebbins(68)
Jerry, Tony was a bookie on the side. That's what went on in the back room. I used to place bets with him when I went to Miami Dade. He got out of the Barber business and opened a auto repair shop on Red Road and Dixie Highway. That shop became a front for some drug sales that landed him in prison for 6 years. When he got out he reopened the barber shop at Red/Bird. He opened it with his girlfriend who ran the travel agency about a block away. One morning about six months after opening the barbershop they found him in the back parking lot with a bullet in his head. Still wearing his Gold Rolex and a thousand dollars in his pocket. Somebody didn't want to take any chances on him talking.
Tony used to say some far out things to his customers. When I was 10 or 11 years old he told me I had "Autobin hair". When I asked him what that meant, he replied "auta been on a horses ass". I didn't think it was funny at the time but as I got older I realized he was right.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 02:32:17 By Gaston Ruiz ( 1968)
Its Tony Petrelli and Herb you are right about the constant phone calls....He used to cut meyer lanskys hair.... Im sure he was not calling for a Pizza.....

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 02:47:40 By Herb Stebbins(68)
Gaston, my error. Petrelli was his last name.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 02:53:36 By Janet Eaton Sherr
Tony was a great guy, even to the girls that hung out at red bird. My dad put Tony in Jail and my dad let meyer lanskey out of jail due to ill health when he was a very old and sick man!
marsha kirkland was my best friend in junior high school. her dad was my preacher. i spent many a night at her house. I was told recently that marsha lives in the palm beach gardens, wellington area.
Janet

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 03:10:28 By Jerry Carpenter
Herb, He was more cautious in the earlier years. Sounds like he shoulda oughta hada stayed that way.No wonder my horse-race, dog-race, jai alai fan abuelo got sooo many haircuts. And with a juge living 1/2 block away.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 03:24:47 By Ivan Lopez
That's our Tony Herb. Hi Janet if you talk to Marsha please say hi for me I never had a chance to say thanks for beign a part of my life back then. I knew you all would like this thread it's incredible how a piece of bubble gum would bring Tony the barber back to our memories. Common all lets put some names out there. Any one remember Anne Dunwoody I think that's how it was spelled she is another great friend who was always sweet to all. How about Lynn Cleveland I think she was Alan Scott girfriend she was also so nice and sweet. Cheers,

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 04:52:10 By david
Gaston, I forgot the correct spelling of Tony's last name. Herb, Jerry and Ivan he was all of that. Tony was always good to everyone of us and he would offer you a hand if needed it. I do remember the travel agency and walking over to lums with him.

Later as I became a cop I looked into what tony was all about and it saddened me, but that is reality. I am glad I did not use him as a reference to get into police work.

Janet, was your Father Judge Eaton?

Ivan, I don't know you but thanks for the memories.

As of this date I have 35 more days left before going north for retirement.

I will always keep you guys and girls in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 05:12:05 By Herb Stebbins(68)
David, Tony was liked by alot and hated by a few. During the time we were growing up Tony had Barber Shops in 4 different locations. 2 on the north side of Red/Bird and 2 on the south side. One on the north side was located where Wallgreens is today. This is where Belks Department Store was located in the 60's.
One day I was getting my ears lowered in his shop and a guy walks in and pushes Tony. I guess he didn't know that Tony boxed simi-pro. Tony knocked him through the plate glass window and draged him in to the street to do the finishing touches. He distroyed this guy. The police came and nothing came of it. The next week a letter bomb found its way into his mail slot in the shop and totally distroyed it. He then opened the shop which is still opened today next to Milam's.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 05:13:13 By Herb Stebbins(68)
I meant to add, Judge Eaton is Janet's Dad.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/20/2006 07:21:40 By david
HERB, NICE TO HEAR FROM YOU. TONY WAS ALWAYS GOOD TO ME AND GEORGE TREAUDU WHO WAS IN COUNTS. HE ALSO WATCHED OVER TERRY EVERS, GIBSOBN, SHEPPARD AND OTHERS.

I AM HAPPY TO HEAR THAT JUDGE EATON ASSISTED OTHERS AND WHOM I MET AND ADMIRED ALONG WITH MORPPONIOS, SEPE AND OTHERS.

DOES ANYONE REMEMBER ENGLES MENS SHOP ON PONCE AND ALHAMBRA WHERE WE BOUGHT OUT MADRIS, GANTS, ETC.

CHIEF CHARLIE SKALAWSLKI COACH KOTYS AND OTHERS WHOM MADE US WHAT WE ARE TODAY. THOSE MENTORS OF YESTERDAY ARE THE REASON WE ARE WHAT WE ARE TODAY.

Ivan,
I saw Lynn Cleveland several months ago at her brother John's funeral. She looks great as seems very happy. She lives in South Miami and has two grown daughters.
Our parents were the cloest friends, so we were together quite often. Her brother John and I were the same age and she and my younger brother were the same age.
I can give you her e mail address if you are interested.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 09/23/2006 04:40:54 By Janet Eaton Sherr
A little more on Tony Petrelli. I am told that Tony didn't go to jail for bookmaking. Evidently Tony, later in his life, got involved with drugs and dealing drugs with the "mob." He was arrested by the federal marshalls, he turned states evidence, (became an informant) to help his case, and was shortly thereafter found in his parking lot with a bullet in his head. the moral of this story is if you are going to talk, do it discreetly.

Bobby, I didn't know that. At CGHS Jim was the Catcher when I was in 11th grade. I'll never forget watching a game at Gables when he threw out an opponent trying to steal second base. The second baseman never had to move his glove. The ball was there before he was 10 feet from second.
What a naturally gifted athlete he was.
Both of you were the same in that respect.
Know matter what sport you guys played, you were both great.
You and your brother were both short. If you would have been 6ft. and 230lbs you would have been in the record books today.

Just read this thread - Ivan:
Lynn Cleveland class of 65... I grew up with Lynn - went to elementary with her (West Lab) and Church (CG United Methodist) and had a crush on her like everyone else did at some point. She was everyones sweetheart. I also went to 'cotilian classes' with her and the rest of the bunch (Taught by the phys ed teacher from West Lab Mrs Zahner - held at my kindergarden school - St James).
Lynn was always the sweetest girl with a real sweet voice and very attractive - the last time I saw her she was then too; had not lost it... She was also in the top of the class- extremely smart and I thought she would probably grow up to be something like Miss America eventually ... a real class act... I think she was a Cavalette as was all the pretty smart girls.
I am sure she is doing fine.

Please help me find Gibson Nobels 65 and Ronnie Allen 63-64.

I have no other information on them.

Thanks

Billy

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 11/12/2006 02:34:28 By Herb Stebbins(68)
Billy, there is a Brother Charlie Nobels (1958). Not the same spelling. That may be his brother? If that doesn't work contact Pat Sullivan (Tekes 1967). Pat does investigative work in Orlando and has offered to help us in locating old friends. Pat's number at work is 1-800-722-8261. He remembers you.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 11/12/2006 06:09:44 By Gaston Ruiz (1968)
Billy, Ron Allen was added to the deseased list 8-17-o6.. ...

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 11/16/2006 12:51:19 By Tim Yero

Gibson Nobles was a Stag in '65.
He is not listed on my Internet search site for people anywhere in the US unless he started using his first name letter 'G' as a listing - which I doubt.

There are some of our Brothers who have dissapeared during this time which I truly believe may be linked to those who may have been lost in VietNam without our knowledge.

I searched for Al Mata '65 to no avail too - (Al is one none of us at that time could ever forget -he was our Sgt at Arms and swung a pretty mean paddle! I know because I was on the recipient end of such during my 'indoctrination' into Stags).
I also had the now historic pleasure of attending the very first Miami Dolphin season opener with Al, (Billy Swain, Larry Volonino and Ken Diaz also were part of that experience.)

Sometime soon, I will call someone to check on an ability to access a military site that I may be able to see if these Brothers were one of our mising or KIA heroes from that period.

I'll post something soon so you all will know the results.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 11/16/2006 03:12:51 By Tim Yero
To Billy Adams Re: Ron Allen

In 1965 Billy Swain and I piled in a car (Ronny's station wagon) with Ronny and Allen Brown and headed to a place called Sebring and watched the '24 hours of Sebring... It was the year Dan Gurney had an awesome new Ford (Re-isued a couple of years ago - like the golfer Mickelson drives). It was a racing car to take on the Ferrari's and Porches.. Unfortunately Dan burned up about 3/4 of the way thru in ahuge blaze on pit road (Someone left the gas cap off after re-fueling)...boom! The winner of another class was a guy last-named 'Webb'.. he drove a corvette with a new item in racing he invented - a 'winged air spoiler'... pretty good invention I'd say.

But that's not the story -

the story is that we parked by the 's's turn in a large sand pit and got stuck (for 24 hours), we never were without a brew (for 24 hours), we had nothing to eat (for 24 hours), we saw so many naked drunk women we had to beat them all back (for about 1/2 second) and... when we actually tried to get a little sleep none of us could get in the back of the station wagon because Ronny was so big, and reaked of 'beer breath' so bad, we could not even try.

If I remeber right, Allen Brown did get in the back for a while - but not for long!

The real problem was it dropped down to about 40 degrees that night and all we had were T-shirts.
With a 'later-on exception' of my Nam experience -it was the most miserable (Most uncomfortable) but funniest (thinking of it now) time in my life.

Ronny was a huge guy with a huge heart and was good as gold.

When I got out of HS and went to Miami-Dade - I also started working as an installer for Southern Bell (short lived)... my training included having to learn how to hook (climb) a telephone pole, so I could 'work aloft'...

The guy who taught me was Ronny's Dad (better known as 'Foots')... he was a huge guy too and a tough 'old bird' but taught me well.

I never did fall.. except later-on in my life when we all learned about Ronny leaving us for good.

These Brothers are not replaceable and will always share our memories and hearts - I am sure you feel the same.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 11/17/2006 10:39:52 By sylvia jenkins atwood
Tim : I read your message about working for Southern Bell and I knew Foots Allen, he was a tough guy, but respected. Also during that same time was a line supervisor by the name of "Fireball", He was Tommy(my ex) and Joe Atwoods dad. I have never known anyone as rough as the two of them. Fireball was one half Indian and was as strong a man as I have ever seen and he was one of my favorite people. His death many years ago was a sad time for us all. Did you ever have a chance to meet him? He and foots were good friends as well as working partners.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 11/17/2006 02:17:29 By Tim Yero
Mr. Allen (Ron's dad) was my pole climbing instructor for abour 5 days and I did not know he was Ron's Dad until later on.

I worked in the Gables District and 'Foots' was a trainer in the North Miami Training location so I never touched base with him after that. He was close to retirement then (I think he had 30 years or so when I met him)..

I never met the other guy either. These people were the forerunners of the type of people that came in with me. As you say they were tough ...
They were "linemen" which soon became 'Cherry-pickers' instead of hooking a pole.

I hooked a few poles in my time when I had to, but most of the phone 'plant' went buried underground during that time. It changed the speciality and it changed the type of person that was needed.

Foots and his type went the way of old time football players that did not wear helmets, catchers who did not wear mits, and to men who wore T-shirts when it was snowing-

Ronny was a chip off the old block: tough, a heart of gold, strong and quite - and a lost type... Never to be forgotten.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 11/20/2006 11:09:13 By sylvia jenkins atwood
Tim:
So sorry you never had the chance to meet "Fireball Atwood". He was as tough a man as I have ever known. Was a man's man, Oh! I think he was well liked by the ladies too. Kind of a John Wayne type. He was responsible for the pole instalation and phone wiring all the way from Miami to the Keys. This was a first, and of course was many many years ago. He could really tell some stories about those times. If his men (crew) got afraid to go into the swamps to climb a pole, he would give them a choice of climbing or fighting him. Guess what they chose? The place was crawling with aligators and snakes, and to have heard him tell it, a few Indians living back in the woods who were not very pleased with the new instalations. He was a story teller and talker and had everyone believing everything he said, including me. Many years later he told me some of the things he had exaggerated. I liked it better believing all the awesome stories and still carry them in my memory today. Fireball moved here to Gainesville when he retired, and lost a battle with lung cancer. He had always been a heavy smoker and liked a strong drink too. He suffered a lot and is buried here in Gainesville, and I always keep flowers on his grave each time the season changes. My children had the pleasure of knowing him when he moved here and my very young son, at that time used to work with him at his saw shop. I have tried to keep his stories alive with my six grandchildren, but as time passes this old mind is not so strong anymore. I do expect them to pass on his tales when they have families of their own. Thanks for getting me to think of these good times by just mentioning Foots Allen, and a very Happy Thanksgiving. sylvia

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 11/21/2006 02:36:34 By Tim Yero
I'm sorry I missed Fireball too (Although I cannot absolutely say I did not meet him - too long ago if you know what I mean).

Too bad everyone smoked back then - it took me forever to quit myself. I guess they all thought they could get killed falling off a pole easier than from smoking... we did loose one of our greatest Stags Brothers on a power pole a year or so after graduation... Larry Volonino Stags 65'
He was one of my best friends.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 11/21/2006 05:04:40 By Adams
Thanks to all for helping with the info on Ronnie Allen....I'm sure hes raising hell some other place and we will see him in the future. I have and will always miss his wonderful sence of humor.

His dad was a great guy. I spent many hours drinking beer and talking with him about life in general. I would vist Ronnie often when he was layed up with a broken back. Ron would beg for a beer and his dad would just laugh and just pop us another one. I left for CA before he got well .....all he could talk about at that time was how he was planning on going to school at LSU...Don't know if he ever got there?

Larry, how could one not love him,I can still see Bishop, Herrera, Gonzalo and myself at Hot Shopps, camping out or at the beach togather. I'm sure all of us from those years have great momeries and great times with him. I know one person that did, we All love him Joe. He had a great family also...The three things that always impressed me about my friend Larry was his love for life , family and his friends. I miss him.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 12/07/2006 10:01:19 By sylvia atwood
Guys' I need your help. I am to have complete knee replacement on the left knee in January. I have talked to so many that have had this done, but have not come up with a concrete answer. Some say they wish they had done it years before, and others say they wish they had never had it done, as they are still in pain. Walking has really become a problem if I stay on my feet very long at the time. This week I had a cortizone shot which has relieved it so much, just to get me through the holidays, but it has made me think, maybe I can live with it this way. Sure hate to have surgery, and will have to miss quite a few weeks of work, which will hurt financially as I only work part time and have no benefits. That's what happens when you turn 70, and still have to work. Please give me some advise. thanks, sylvia

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 12/08/2006 04:17:48 By Billy
Sylvia, it just depend on how active you want to be. I have had 7 operations and two left knee replacements and they have scope or cleaned out the right three times. I received cortizone shots about every 4-6 months on my right knee, it takes away the intense pain and I can live with that. The doctors keep telling me that my right knee needs replaced. I'm still fighting them.

The knee replacements gave me back my life, but I only had 30% movement in my left one. I have NO pain. My right is a different story. I just have ligament and cartalige damage. Having two large screws in my (L) foot doesn't help things.

Your rehab after surgery will take you about 90 days, you will lose muscle tone, but that is to be expected. Some swelling will occure periodically. The harder you work the faster you can move on with your life, if you give up on rehab, your screwed, pardon the language. You can expect your replacement to last ten to twenty years, depending on how rough you are on the knee. Call if I can help. 772-398-0620

I looked through the directory again and found the name Tezanos. I am trying to find a old friend from my banking days. Her name is Terry Tezanos. She if not now at one time was married to one of your brothers. Any information on locating her would be helpful.

BILLY "bear" ADAMS, the only hurt ,was watching you and MY BIG Brother Steve the Tiger , the day the youngones (68) beat you in Golf....that was painfull..... love you BEAR.00-000

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 02/01/2007 10:48:38 By Steve Aguilar
Gaston,
Unfortunately you were not there the day before when the round bellys totally crushed the youngsters. The youngsters only managed a tie on the front nine by ekeing out of a three hole carry over, and never won a single hole on the back nine. Sadly you whippersnapers returned the favor by whipping up on us the next day (which you witnessed). In our defense we were somewhat crippled by only two hours sleep and some extremely sore knees from dancing way to much the night before at the reunion. The howling gale we played in also contributed greatly to our demise. The problem was not lackawana, or lack of talent, but rather a lack of antiinflamatory drugs and sleep that killed us Next time we will play on something other than a goat track, and in more ideal weather conditions, and I have no doubt that the cream will rise to the top. Much Love,

El Tigre y La Aguila del Norte

Steve your analogy is on the money the bear and the tiger had a couple of rough nights and at their senior age it has to affect their game. At the Biltmore you guys were impressive when Adams was on his game and you were driving and hitting your irons like a pro. Sunday you looked a bit tired and unfortunately for you guys the rookie came on and hit the shot of the weekend that knocked the wind from your sails. Next time we meet it will be at Adam's back yard courses and he will be looking to set the record straight. However the 68 boys now know what to expect and will take the game more seriously, actually practicing a bit before the mach. Let’s make it soon before it gets to hot.

Steve thanks for helping John Paul with his car.

I miss all of you boys already. Let me know when you want me to set up everything.

We can talk about accomadations as soon as I know how many want to play........We can defenitely have food and drinks my house. I have room for the first few that make a resavation.

Take care, see ya'll soon and there are no cow pastures here.....

This is to let you golfers know that the nerves in my left arm is still not any better - still feels like all my muscles are pulled... that's the bad news.. the good news is I am starting some new 'non-drowsey' medication which may relieve all the pain.

If this works (Won't take long to find out), I will definetly start hitting some golf balls on the back of my property (I have 5 acres - about a 300 yard shot max) and if everything feels good - I may join you in this Stags Golf Rally for sure. (Don't plan on anywhere close to 300 yards however - those days are gone)...

Fact is, I probably wouldn't be much worse score-wise than when I played regularly.. with a lot of practice and all!

I'm sure I can still line up a putt for the dough so if I can hit it consistently, and get to the green respectably I will let you know; soon.

What's a little pain anyway.. if you can't play hurtin' you can't play at all (like me for example!)...

If I could afford to show up just for the embibement of numerous refreshments I would.. but that would be less than likely...
Billy - I'll keep in touch

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 02/02/2007 06:30:14 By Gaston Ruiz (1968)
Billy , we look forward to your Hospitality anytime you want us there......Tim , if you can play or not is not really important...... its getting together and B.S.ing that makes the time worth a million dollars, we had a great time on the 66 weekend and we should find the time to make more of those moments memorable.....

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 02/02/2007 11:33:37 By Steve Aguilar
John, It was great meeting John Paul. We have not actually done anything to his car other than have my service manager listen to it and check the tension on the belt. It sounded ok and the belt was tight though somewhat worn. Jim Hinkley my service manager told John Paul no problem in need of immediate attention, but to make a appointment when convenient, bring it back and he would replace the worn belt and find out why the check engine light was on. Your son is very impressive and nice guy, and I told him to call us if he needed anything at all. I also enjoyed speaking to your wife on the phone. Come up for the spring racing meet at Keeneland and bring your clubs. We will have a big time. It is absolutely gorgeous here in the spring.
Your brother,
Steven

Tim your always welcome at my home, along with any and all other Stag Brothers.

Jerry if your in the area while looking for a place to retire, please stop in and stay a while.

Gaston, look forward to seeing all you hackers. We would love to see more join us......I'll fit as many as I can at my place and there are some fine resorts within 5-10 min. of my place....Club Med on the river, Marriott on the beach, Holiday Inn and a lot neat small places to stay.

The Treasure Coast Guild says there are over 75 golf clubs within 30 minutes from here.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 02/06/2007 11:21:09 By Tim Yero
When they said "75 clubs" did they mean 'courses' or '75 clubs' Billy discarded along the way?

I used to be able to say "Let's play all 75" and mean it... making it for 9 holes would be a dream at this point! Maybe this will change... not yet.

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 02/06/2007 12:04:00 By Tim Yero
I don't know what this all means but you golf officienados may run out and get one of the new square drivers (about 6 $$$bills) before you do, you may want to read this... I'm sticking with what I have.

Nike and Callaway believe the square technology is the best way to take advantage of U.S. Golf Association guidelines that limit the size of a driver to a 5-by-5-inch square.

TaylorMade's Vincent disagrees.

"You have to be very cautious," he said. "You don't want to solve one problem by creating another."

Vincent agrees that the square driver is stable, but he said to create that stability the face of the driver is shallow to save mass to fill out the square.

He says a shallow face creates shots with more backspin and shorter flight. He agrees that in the case of golfers with slow swing speeds, the square driver might be helpful.

"That is the design of the 3-wood," he said.
"The square-headed driver phenomenon will be over in about 90 days," King told Golfweek magazine.

He is not alone in the belief that square drivers, as marketed by Nike and Callaway, will be fads. The sister brands of Titleist and Cobra have opted for triangular-shaped heads, and even Nike and Callaway are offering drivers with elongated heads to hedge their bets on square.

Anyway...
Drive for show, putt for dough (It has always worked that way!!!) LOL Tim

Billy: Jerry has contributed to the whole world as an environmental and farming guru and we are all very proud of his progress, which at one time, we thought he may not make it... He has a lot on his mind these days and we all owe him a debt of gratitude for hanging in there wth his family amongst the forest - so far out there.

Someone has to mind the farm...
I know I speak for us all; when someone says "You the man" they are speaking about Jerry. He IS the man!

PS Jer... do you guys make your own or buy the chitlins? Forget about the grits...

Jerry, see how great this site is ?????????? you ask and we all respond to the needs to connect.....Marie great to see you writting again we miss you..... Grits and red-eye gravy love it.....crackling is good, not the southern type , the Cuban type "chicharones" instant heart attack ..... 10 years ago I used to go to Callaway Gardens in Georgia with my kids for 2 weeks and I met a guy who use to fry pork fat in a barrel on the side of the road and thought his Crackling was the best in the area and many folks thought so too..... I went back to my Cabin and brought him " Cuban Adobo" a mixture of Cuban spices that I always carried in my trips and told him,,,, when you scoop those crackling from the beautifull fat .... Sprinkle some adobo on them and your business will double , he smiled and said ok "BOY" i'll give it a try ...today 10 years later I still send him a 12 pack to Calloway.....

Re: Where are they todayPosted at 02/08/2007 09:08:51 By Jerry '65
Gus and ALL,There is a difference between chicharones and chitlins! And, you should try "mountain oysters" if you are in-to chitlins. I'm NOT !! @@ @@@

Mr Tim, frist of all I have the deepest respect for Jerry and Janey. Any one that gives thier lives to the teaching profession and especially to those that teach in east Tennessee mountains.

I sure you know there is... a differants in chitlins and cracklins. , One is the skin and the other is .....well the .....smellyer of the two.....you need to go to a hog killer some times ....in the fall when.... the weather is cooler..you can get you lard and soap makings at the same time.........the rest goes in the somke house for the meat and fixing for the rest of the year.....most of all .....all this country stuff is about the people....you got to live it to love it.....and to really understand it.

Rocky mountain oysters and rooster fries Mr. Tim, um, um good..........well to some degree..

My love to Jerry and Janey,
