Call Johnathan with "Bee and Honey Removal". He works all the way up past Jupiter. 305-232-5658 Expensive, $1,200 for a life time warrenty.
Before you do that though, why don't you try what has worked so well for you in the past. Go out and try to intimidate the Bee's. Walk up to them, as you have with so many and put your nose right in their face, telling them what a beating they are going to get. Start off slapping them, then let the poor critters get a taste of "The Fist Of God".
Call me when you get to the hospital.

My best brother Billy AKA to me as William my Boy... do you remember my grandfather from Colombia he was a bee keeper. I have a couple of tips!

It's hard to get rid of bees because it's sometimes hard to find the source. Here is a great bee trap. Take a plastic pop bottle (16 or 20 oz. will do) cut the top off and insert it in upside down. put a couple oz.'s of mt.dew at the bottom. The bees will go straight to it and leave you alone on your porch. Make a couple of them and empty and change pop once a week.

You can also use a "smoker" that beekeepers use to calm the bees down. It's harmless to birds and pets. If you want to know where the hive(s) is then just wait until just before the sun sets and follow one or two bees. They always go back to the hive by evening.

Instead of drawing them closer with a soda bottle filled with yummies, drive them away. Simlpy place a handfull of mothballs in a kneehigh or pantyhose of sorts. Hang it in your yard. You may need to put up more than one if it is a large area.

Hope this helps, Ivan

Adams:

You need to call the developer of your house and ask him what was there before they put up houses, because the place you live at may have been used for a bee farm. If your property was a bee farm you're in deep doo doo. Bees will will pass on their birth place to their offspring for 100 years, and there's nothing you can do to get rid of them, they'll keep coming back to the same place no matter what you do. There is a couple of things you can try;(my grandfather was a bee keeper in CUBA) and I may be able to help you. We'll talk about it at the DOOZIE.

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 04/13/2007 07:22:02 By Gaston Ruiz (1968)
Billy , we get them out on my fields all the time...I usually get one of my guys at night with a pressure cleaner to blow them out... usually the queen gets frustrated and moves on....if that does'nt work a couple of spot light will do it ... they are attracted to the light and they flutter all night around the light causing them to dehydrate and "DIE" please send me a check for $1200.

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 04/13/2007 07:23:23 By Manny Garcia 68
Adams:

Maybe this problem can't wait til next week so I'll pass on one of my granpa's secrets. Bisides a bee keeper my grandfather was a world traveler, and in one of his trips to Papua New Guinea, he met a bee keeper chief of the FOKAUWE TRIBE, and through his interpreter JESUS my granpa was able to get some information from the chief;( and good information it was). He found out that there's a bird in Papua ( THE RED HEADED ONE EYE RODNEY)could fend off bees, and make them forget their birth place. One problem; THE ONE EYED RED HEAD RODNEY IS MUTE, in order to make him chirp, you have to grab him by the neck, and just before the bird passes out he'll chirp. Once he chirps every bee with in a 2 mile radious will disappear. You may ask; where can I get a ONE EYED RED HEADED RODNEY? You're in luck, there is a dealer In Miami, who specializes in this particular bird, and as a good friend I'll bring you one of them next week.
Hope this helps.

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 04/14/2007 10:00:58 By David Steger 71
Billy, go to (WillieTheBeeman.com). there is alist of phone numbers you can call. This is not a joke we used them when calls for service invoving bees at homes.

Also, since you were in shoot outs back in your day, try this. Get a bee-bee gun just for bees and use the very small bb's. Then sight the rifle and pull the trigger. If there are hundreds of bees it might take you awhile. Hint, dont drink to much it will be harder to hit the bees.

Ref. the above post give them a call.

David

Adams:

I am not surprised at all, where there's bees there are bats. You may ask why? Well, bees as you know produce honey, and bats like honey, so there you have it.
My grandfather also had a bat problem in CUBA, just the same as a famous rum brand whose emblem is a bat, because they had bats in the brewery way back when, and could not get rid of them, until with my grandfather came to their aid with help.
Upon grandpa's return return from one of his trips to TURKEY, where he met SHEIK AZUK MDEEK, he was related to SHEIK ASHEEET MDROWS, who was the keeper of the bell towers in all of ISTANBUL, he told my grandpa, thet the only one who know how to get rid of bats for ever was his cousin ALEEK MADEEK. He cowrote the famous book titled "AZUK AND ALEEK MADEEK METHOD FOR GETTING RID OF BATS IN ONE EASY STEP".As luck would have it, my grandpa left me a copy of this famous book before he past on, and as your friend, I'll bring you a copy next week.

Manny, those are some good posts. How have you been. Been smoking some good cigars lately?

Good luck at the golf event.

I still say using the bee-bee gun works better. That is why they call it a bee-bee gun. It was made for killing bees.

David

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 04/15/2007 00:28:08 By Steve Aguilar
Billy,
Try rock and roll played at full volume. Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix work best in my experience. The neighbors may not care for it, but it will do the trick. Bob Seeger and the Silver Bullet Band has also been known to decimate swarms of honeybees regularly. Bees are pretty sedate in the hive like symphonic music only. Rock and Roll drives em bats. To get rid of the Bats, try Jerry Lee Lewis, thats why they call him "the Killer"

See you soon,
Steve Aguilar

Well I can see this thread is going no where.......

It has been captured by "IDIOTS"....CALL THE COPS..

Mammy it must be wonderful to have a grandpa so well traveled....I sure as a young child you were fascinated by his stories...and as a "MAN CHILD" you still are..........dON'T FORGET THE BOOK.

Yes David I have a"BEE BEE" GUN......I CAN'T GET THOSE LITTLE BUGGERS to fly slow enough so I can get a shot at them......

Steve my boy......I'll deal with later.....

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 04/15/2007 09:56:06 By Gaston Ruiz (1968)
Billy, although Manny may be pulling your leg a bit, Bat-Guano is a very sought after in parts of the world for use in Fertilizing Fruits , Vegetables... Specifically in Orange Groves and Banana Plantations as it helps produce twice the normal yield in he growth of production , due to its 100% organic contents without any ammonia as other un-natural products....Cuba, is one of the largest producers of Bat-Guano in the world, due its Mountian areas and the amounts of Caves in the Providence of Pinal del Rio....you living in Pt.St.Lucie are not far from Indian River Co....producers of some of the best Oranges and Grapefruits....save the droppins ,its quite expensive.....maybe if you save enough of it over the next year, you could pay for all the Tee-Times in the future.....see you soon, Gastonnnnnnnnnnnnn

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 04/15/2007 10:11:01 By Steve Aguilar
Billy,
Sorry partner, but after reading Manny's posts I was really tickled, and figured I had to add some more levity to the proceedings, and so you got my my 2 cents worth. But whatever you decide to do, don't play Pink Floyd for them, because they are partial to it and will stay indefinately. The same goes for Santana, especially "Smooth".
See you in a few days,
Steve

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 04/15/2007 12:00:42 By adams
I'm still laughing about "RED HEADED ONE EYED RODNEY".....
Manny just is'nt that funny .....His wife must have written it for him or a friend.

Mr Aggie, had you mention Joe Coker, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Elvis, Muddy Waters, B B King, Little River Band and Eric I would try the sound effects.

If you like any or all of the above you must buy the sound tack form Good Fellas and Wonder Boys........I can't get enough of them and the Ray Charles (genius loves company)...wow what an album.

After more thought... I'm going to try it with my music.....be prepared to bail me out of jail....Partner

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 04/15/2007 02:27:21 By Tim Yero
Billy: So much for serious help... I searched for a pictures of a RED HEADED ONE EYED RODNEY, I found one picture with two of them which I mailed to you.
I think Steve'idea of the music is your best bet- But, you should play stuff you DON'T like, the bees won't like it eiather having lived with you for so long. In this regard: I will bring you your very own copy of a cd of some of mine to the doozie; you are welcomed to play it for the bees... as shown by the lack of success of these fine recordings, no one ever wanted to listen to these fine recordings of mine - I would not expect you or your bees would be the first.

David after seeing his ad and that long list of credentials....I afraid to see his contract....It would take a week to read and make any sense of what his job would entail...

I truly thought, it was some hacker playing a joke when I read it.

I,ll pay the $350 locally.....and I don't have to read a three page resume.....

Thanks my Friend...but,....You know how skeptical x-cops are.

Hope to see you soon

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 05/03/2007 10:44:30 By David Steger
Billy, I hope the bees are gone. Heard about the golf event and that the scores were off. Maybe next year I will attend and be the offical score keeper for all. I will drive my golf cart filled with beer and score cards.

In regards to keeping Manny's mouth shut, I only have one solution. There is a place in Miami and Hialeah called Sarussi's , I believe is the correct spelling.

One is located in Miami at 8th street and approx. 63 or 64 avenue. The other is on West 12 avenue in Hialeah.

They make a good cuban sandwich made out of this special bread, with a red sauce which is to kill for. It is a verrrrrry big sandwich.

This place has been around for years maybe Gaston, Manny can add comments

That is the only thing I know of other then FSU losing to Miami or Florida.

The photos of the evnt look great and glad you all enjoyed yopurself. The presents were a laugh.

Wher are the cuban cigars?

David

I'd prefer to join you and the beer cart.....that way I won't care if anyone give me any crap............I'll just open another beer.....and say to hell with it.....

I am requesting you close this thread....After the "RED HEADED ONE EYED RODNEY" story ....I will never be able to get any advise more profound than that for any problem that may come my way.

Thanks to all, especially to Manny.

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 09/03/2008 05:43:11 By Herb Stebbins(68)
This is for those of you that live in Florida and have Ficus trees or bushes.
If the leaves are falling off and you see nats on the leaves, gathered in webs, you most likely have "White Fly" infestation.
The most effective cure is a chemical called Merit. It is applied directly into the root system.
The cost is about $2 per linier foot.
If you have this problem and need to find someone to help you please feel free to call or email me. My numbers are on the site.
It doesn't take long for them to kill a bush or tree.

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 09/03/2008 07:21:35 By Jerry '65
Herb, I hope you don't have "White Fly" If so, I'll send you 50 cents to take care of yourself !
Ficus trees are 1/2 roots !

Love Jerry '65

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 09/04/2008 10:48:29 By Herb Stebbins(68)
Jerry, I do have the investation. They are coming tomorrow to take care of it. The hedge is nine feet high and about 80 feet long.
The flies took out the bottom third of the bushes in less then two weeks.
The flies entered on the Miami River and in a very short time spread to the middle of Dade and Broward Counties. I drove down Galloway yesterday and you can already start to see the effects.

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 09/04/2008 11:18:37 By Gaston Ruiz ( 1968 )
Herb, Merit is a very good and expensive product to use, it will control the white fly ...there is no guarantee, that it will rid the white fly problem ,it only controls it from getting worst and it will continue to come back once you stop the treatments ...its a monthly expense that has no ending ...most of my customers are looking for other alternatives (plants} to replace the ficus...in the long run its cheaper to remove and add a different type of shrub..the white fly will also attack other vegetation in your yard ,its a no win situation....Gold Mound Durantas also are falling prey to the white fly , does are does nice manicured yellow shrubs you see all around miami....Podocarpus is a good replacement shrub for privacy( more expensive} , but it takes a long time for them to grow Max growth in florida 20 feet , must be trimmed 2-4 times a year to be able be trained into a full hedge at first, fertilize twice a year , needs good drainage and sun.....once established pretty much normal care less prunning ,no root damage to areas or structures....

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 09/04/2008 12:57:37 By Jerry '65
Herb, Up here we have the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid that is devastating beautiful old trees. It is kinda like the Chestnut Blight a century ago. It wiped out the American chesnut. There are remnants of stumps that you, Gapebble, and I couldn't reach around. Shame !

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 09/04/2008 01:20:13 By Herb Stebbins(68)
Gaston, I called the University of Fla. on it. They were the first to do the trial test on the chemical. All positives so far. From speaking with them and the people I have contracted with, it is a cycle process of eight months. Results and regrowth will start in two to three weeks and the process last eight months before the next treatment cycle. For the price, it's worth a try. This company I'm using has good results so far.
It's still new to the South Fla. area so time will tell.
If push comes to shove, I will use the area where the Ficus are now for a hybrid chili I'm growing. I'm going to try it out on Garcia soon. If it creates the designed bowel reflex I'm looking for then I might bring a few to the next Doozie in the UNLIKELY event I lose the next chili cookoff.
The nice thing about the chili is, it's not overbearing. In theory you could mix it in with Biscuits and Gravey, Cocktail Wieners, Hungarian Beef Golosh, SOS, Cheeseburgers(with toasted buns)and raw onions and a side of onion rings or Country Fried Steak and know one would ever know.
I'll let you know how the trial RUNS workout on Garcia.

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 09/04/2008 01:31:59 By Jerry '65
Herb, Are you absolutely sure you have not already done some trial RUNS on Garcia ? It would seem he has faded away !

Herb,I have been treating ficus now for 1 year and still the fly comes back as it settles on other plants and then re attacks new growth ....in my yard I have close to 300 linear ft/10' ht by 4'wide.....missed spraying 1 mo.and all shit hit the fan again.....call local nurseries and they will tell you how sales drop, people don't buy and the don't try to sell them as they use to ...feer of contamination......I seen the area east of you of 87 ave on the lake and its sad...try the Doral Golf course.it attacked all their huge trees too..

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 09/04/2008 01:59:32 By Billy
Herb, I suggest you use the chili that you made for the Doozie on you ficus bush.......That stuff will kill anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a thought...................??????

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 09/04/2008 02:41:14 By Tim Yero
Herb (and maybe all of you in Miami):

Whiteflies have many NATURAL ENEMIES, and outbreaks frequently occur when these natural enemies have been disturbed or destroyed by pesticides, dust buildup, or other factors.

GENERAL PREDATORS include lacewings, bigeyed bugs, and minute pirate bugs. Several small lady beetles including Clitostethus arcuatus (on ash whitefly) and scale predators such as Scymnus or Chilocorus species, and the Asian multicolored lady beetle, Harmonia axyridis, feed on whiteflies.

Get some Predators to take care of the whiteflies - chemicals don't work for long...

Billy , the RED HEADED ONE EYE RODNEY dealer in Hialeah, was closed down by SPCA the day after he choked it and killed all the bees in south florida ....Herb's chili should work on the flys and many other things....

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 09/04/2008 02:57:36 By Herb Stebbins(68)
No Jerry, there is no weapon known to man that can keep him down.
Gaston, what are you treating your Ficus with? Are you spraying the leaves or are you injecting into the root system? According to to the U of F you must inject into the root system to be effective.
Billy, I expected more from you. What a disappointment those comments were. You are an incredibly insensitive person.
I hate to do this, throwing my wife under the bus as it might seem but Lucy made that Chili. God Bless her soul. She spent days on that, so lets cut her a little slack. OK
Billy, I had another idea for the property if the chili's ended up killing Garcia. I was thinking along the lines of raising you a few new pets. Your home would be complete with some Summer Beas and a gross of Black Bats.
As you said "Just a Thought"

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 09/04/2008 09:04:02 By Billy
Herbie , spread your BS some other place .....Lucy has cooked for me too many times and she is great at it . You on the other hand need plenty of help in that area. Face it, YOUR chili sucked. To prove my point.........that it WAS YOUR CHILI.

PLEASE SEE DOOZIE SITE ON 3/20/O8 @ 5:10 AND 5/19/08 @ 7:13.

"Clairol M-7 Boy" surely you wouldn't lie to your Brothers about your official entry to a Stag Chili Contest...Would you ?????????

Lets have a vote ....How many licks would that be for cheating my Brothers?????????????????????

Rather then getting in a boring long drawn out discussion with you on the topic...Lets cut to the Chase.
WHO'S SWINGING THE PADDLE???????????

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 09/05/2008 08:08:06 By Tim Yero
We all have our individual preferences of likes and dislikes... I for one thought everyone's chili was really good (especially my own 'special' blend - I should have added a little more hotter spice to make it perfectly).

I think 'the dollup' may have been what did you in Herb - some people just like plain spicey chili without the sissy creamy stuff added to a hearty bowl of chili...Perhaps if we have a 'quiche' contest, you would do better.

PS Lucy definetly puts in a lot of effort above and beyond the normal and is a great gormet' cook - some people just like plain food without all of the exotic ingredients - those people (like myself) are known as 'boring and easy to please'!

That's up to the members............Big Boy.

Any request???????

Tim, I must say...Brother that was spot on. You are so correct. I'm suprised that with the time you have spent around Adams that your gleeming personality didn't rub off on him. I guess that's the impossible dream!
All I will say is it was a conspiracy perpetrated my Mrs.Adams. I said to her earlier that day that the sour cream freska was an essential part of Lucy's award winning chili. I could tell from her response that there might be some shenangans going on.
One other item I noticed, when I removed the chili from the refrig. outside was that it had been tampered with. God knows what Billy or Gaston could have done with it.
Next year precautions will be taken to keep Lucy's "Chili of the Gods" in a sterial enviroment.
Please don't bash my wifes chili anymore. OK?

Tim, how on earth can you defend the liar and cheat of our sacred Chili Contest.. ...

It appears Herb HAS rubbed off on you.. ...

How disappointing..

Herbmiester and the Billster:
I am firmly only on the side of the winner of the contest - that would be Gastonnnn (the Chili King) and ... I know nothing about any chili tampering nor any desire on anyone's part to cheat by sabotaging the chili.

I do know we had a fine nationally known and highly rated 'panel' of chili tasters that decided on their own as to whose was the best. They did this prior to any of the rest of us even seeing the gallop topped chili (which gave your particular mix away)... From what I remember, the panel said all the chili dishes were great and it was VERY hard to decide which one could be said as best in show...

So, Herby (my highly esteemed and alleged Predatory friend), don't feel so bad that your chili was in totally last place, end of the row, back of the line, back of the bus, etc. etc.!! (Just know that Lucy IS still awesome and I am sure she had nothing to do with the chili you tried to make at the Doozie... If she had made it there is no doubt you probably have won hands down.)

Love, Tim TDT65

Take that Herbie.................

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 09/05/2008 07:33:29 By Gaston Ruiz ( 1968 )
Herb, I think a round robin is due by the Doozie commitee members .Billy I think 2 wacks a piece sounds fair. I think if Lucy cooked that CHILI she would have won ....HER COOKING SHOULD BE ON THE food channel..I love to cook and I'm pretty good at it ....But Lucy's cooking is way better than mine...

I agree with Gapebbles on one point. It will be "whacks" not "licks" ! The panel of JUDGES are highly insulted. It should be the JUDGES that are Brothers. And it should be 10 whacks a piece since we are the honest and perhaps offended JUDGES who tried to run a fair contest. If approved, I will "proxy" my chance to a new participant at D-III, to be named later !

Well this is just like you guys to pile on to a Brother when he's down.
I only tried to display a bit of honesty and look what gets me.
Gaston, though I am intrigued by a little mild discipline, you can tell your friend Sweet-Pea that I'm opposed to being launched into another time zone by him.
Being fare to the game Gaston...rather then you, Jerry, Tim or Billy hurling down on my Butox, I do agree that a member in good standing should administer the punishment.
Gaston, please try and contact Jeran and discuss this matter with her.

Jerry, I know - some you open, some you extend, some you just close out... I thought this thread was supposed to be about bees, bats and whiteflies anyway!

How it turned into Chili recipies and trying to i.d. who may have tainted Herb's dollups (according only to Herb) I don't know... and it really doesn't belong here...

But, there is also some really interesting Herb produced reading material regarding 'how to get rid of the toads' on the Doozie golf thread; so I guess mixing the information is like mixing drinks - it means fairplay is anywhere and everywhere (O.K. with me!)...

"White Fly" update. I had my bush sprayed (Ficus) last Friday. As of this morning, all the Flys were gone. Thinking it might have been the rain and wind that knocked them off, I looked closer.
I did find one cluster and removed them. They were dead. I will let you know if I get any regrowth.

Blow some good Kripy on hive, and they will run away, and never find their way back.

Eric, thanks for the idea but how would I deal with their uncontrollable appitite and never-ending laughter?

Re: How do they do that.....I NEED HELPPosted at 09/10/2008 01:26:52 By Tim Yero
Herb: You can end your appetite and laughter by looking in the mirror...

OOOHHH, that hurt..
Love, Tim

Is the term "good Kripy" redundant ? I don't live in the area, so forgive my ignorance !
