If Costa Rica becomes the next out of country fishing outing, one of the guys in my fishing club may be able to help us. He is a part owner of a small hotel (10 rooms I think) in Costa Rica. I'll talk to him and see what he can offer. Costa Rica is like any other exceptional fishing place. Sometimes it is red hot and some times just good.
It was not an offical club outing but either in 2003 or 2002 about a dozen guys from the fishing club went to Costa Rica. They did fair with Pacific Sailfish. As luck would have it Miami Sailfishing was on fire while they were in Costa Rica. I think that was the same time when the Miami record of 26 Sails on one boat in one day was set.
Several years ago some MET anglers were participating in a tournament in Costa Rica and set a record for the most Sailfish ever caught in a tournament. I don't remember the actual number of Sails caught in that tournament but it was a very big number, maybe even approaching 1,000 Sails. Anyone remember that write up? Anyway, the point is that fishing in Costa Rica is typically exceptional.
